By asking how Kinja could improve.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
With how badly coded Kinja is, I bet a lot of users are getting to comment “Stupid coding” or something of that nature... but there is a real reason to talk about it...
I mean, they could improve access to blogs like Oppo that are predominantly self sufficeint.. I dunno... maybe we should kill this with fire or else this blog might be *gasp* monetized!
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

More ads, less whitelisting, more opinion level reporting, and more entertaining personalities we can poke fun at.

I’d like to see the feature come back where you could just set up a new blog and assign your normal account as the owner (without having to start a whole new account).
Also hidden Oppo is best Oppo. Don’t open the front door again.

Everyone bitching about Kinja seems to forget about how bad 5.0 was. That was a hot mess. That is what I compare Kinja to, and compared to that dumpster fire, Kinja works pretty well. I really don’t have that many issues with Kinja at all.

I doubt the front page commenters have the calm and reason that predominates here... That’s why I said he opened a Pandora’s box....

Is that Kinja’s inevitable future?

Wouldn’t be too far fetched...

I wonder if they’d accept a list of ideas & suggestions via e-mail, instead of trying to set aside time for a 90-minute phone call. I could easily write a whole post of ideas of how to improve the user experience, and it would be more than just a rant about ads and stability.

Don’t mind me, I’m just here for the 440i.

Seriously Kinja is buggy, but it could be far worse. The really horrible version was the one where it didn’t show replies to replies, but instead just had a bunch of user icons, and you had to click each one, one at a time to read replies.

Meh, the should just leave it alone, or not. They’ll do what they want. As long as I can keep coming to oppo and have it for the most part be functional... enough. I’ve stopped having high hopes for Kinja a long long time ago. Although I do still sometimes fondly think back to the pre-Kinja days.

You wouldn’t want reunification?

It could be a lot worse. For all the functionality, it works pretty good.

Oh god... I’ll finally have the answer to my ultimate question.... “What happens when two Canadians dissagree?”

Snowball fight to the death.
Smallbear, I’ll meet you in Saskatoon to do battle. Should be about halfway between Vancouver and Toronto.

You’re not going to take an hour out of your workday* to answer their questions?
*may or may not be workday as the survey didn’t specify time zone. There might be 4 time zones in the contiguous 48, but didn’t you know that NYC time is the only place on the planet that matters?

I just wrote “N/A” on the phone thingy

I took a look at the form, and they do ask for location. I guess they must be trying to use that to figure out time zone.
I can’t say for sure how Kinja’s official time works, though. Are they NYC-based? Didn’t they have a major office in Budapest or something?

I feel like one of the bigger issues they need to solve is how comment strings are threaded. Right now, if you have one comment that garners lots of replies and continued discussion, it’s really hard to follow each individual discussion once it gets past a certain point.

You know I just remember it as a system that worked. Nobody was really complaining to the extent that they are these days. For the most part I remember how awful and painful the switch was, haha.

No way. As it is we get the best FP’ers, the rest I don’t want to see.

I think it depends on where the author is posting from? Some articles posted “[a few] minutes ago” sometimes have an actual timestamp (revealed by tooltip) of an hour or more before that. In some cases, you can tell that it’s not just the author bumping their own post. Comments sometimes display different timestamps than my local time, suggesting that each post establishes one particular time zone that all comments must adhere to.
And I haven’t seen it in a while, but there was also that thing with notifications, where at some point in the early/mid evening, all of my recent notifications would become “yesterday”s. It seems to follow EST now, though.

I signed up for it.
I know nothing about code, but what i know is that sometimes it is difficult to anticipate user needs when designing a UX or any kind of automated system.

I was hoping for some sort of telecommuting gig, not “deal with us for 90 minutes and get a gift card”
Seriously I’d happily spend my spare time doing QA/UAT if they’d send me a check
